This graduate level course provides an in-depth examination of terrorism and counterterrorism. The topics cover theories behind the influences and motivations of terrorists, counterterrorism policy, evaluating counterterrorism strategies for effectiveness, intelligence gathering and surveillance, police tactics in fighting and investigating terrorism, preventive detention, the punishment of terrorists, rehabilitating terrorists, the use of social media by terrorists, conflict resolution and peace building, and thinking creatively in combating terrorism.
